Sambells Global Consulting was established in May 2012 by Harry Sambells. Due to my 40 year career (34 of which were with Canada’s largest engineering constructor) and varied project experience from small civil projects in Saskatchewan to mega industrial projects in northern Canada and the Middle East, I felt there were numerous opportunities to share these experiences with clients in Canada and overseas. In the last several years Sambells Global Consulting has provided services as a Project Management Consultant and Advisor by:
- Advising owners and developing execution and contracting strategies, risk management and execution plans for multi-billion dollar natural resource and energy developments
- Currently the Canadian representative for DYPNF Co. Ltd. a Korean material handling equipment company for both mechanical and pneumatic conveying systems
- Lecturing at the University of Calgary to graduate students about “Financing Capital Projects” and “Project – Engineering Management” and lecturing to third year students about “Engineering Management”
- Lecturer for “ENCI 693 Project Engineering Management” for graduate engineering students at the University of Calgary in 2019 and Engineer in Residence
- Delivering a two-day Module for Construction/Contract Management to candidates for Project Management Institute (PMI) designation.
- Delivering a two-day module for two consecutive years to an international oil company on Engineering Management as part of their Project Management Training Program
- Developing and facilitating a workshop on Project Execution for a large Alberta oil sands company.
- Assisting an engineering firm by improving their project delivery system for minor capital projects and a $1.3 billion utility project for electrical transmission and distribution systems in western Canada.
- Assisting an engineering contractor in the energy sector in the settlement of a claim with their major client.
- Providing risk reviews, contracting strategy reviews, cost reviews for a major power engineering and construction company for a proposed nuclear power plant project and major turbine refurbishment project in eastern Canada.
- Advising a Canadian company in the development of a USD $1.4 billion LNG storage/regas/power generation/pipeline facility in SE Asia
- Advising the Canadian President/CEO of a major international oil company about execution of projects in Alberta’s oil sands industry, conducting readiness reviews, cost reviews, contractor negotiations and training sessions for contract management
- Appointed as member of a three person Advisory Board for a western Canadian engineering/construction company in the utility infrastructure sector
